POCSO SECTION 25

Section 25 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO) deals with the recording of a child's statement by a magistrate: 

• The magistrate must record the child's statement as spoken by the child. 
• The magistrate must record the statement in the presence of the child's parents or guardian, or any other person the child trusts. 
• The magistrate can use a translator or interpreter if needed. 
• The magistrate should record the statement by audio or video if possible. 
• The magistrate must provide the child, their parents, or their representative with a copy of the document specified in section 207 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, after the police file their final report.
